Postbaccalaureate Pre-Clinical Program in Communication Disorders

Speech-language pathology and audiology rank among the 30 fastest-growing professions of the next decade, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. With the aging of the baby boom generation, increased survival rates for premature infants and trauma victims, and more emphasis on early identification, professionals trained in helping patients cope with hearing loss or speech and language delays and/or disorders are in greater demand than ever before.

This comprehensive program is designed for students without an undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. You will complete eight prerequisite courses in a carefully structured program that supports your studies with academic advising, opportunities for clinical observation, and career guidance.

Program Details

Curriculum: The program curriculum is made up of the eight courses required as prerequisite for admission to the M.A. program at UMass. The prerequisite requirements of other graduate programs are typically very similar, if not identical.

• Note: Completion of prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission to a graduate program, either at UMass Amherst or any other school.

Fees: $290 per credit plus $45 non-refundable registration fee
